The critically acclaimed sci-fi series is out on Blu-ray with the complete first season.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There are a handful of new releases this week, most notably a couple of critically favored television series\u2014Battlestar Galactica (Season 1) and Chuck (Season 2).<\/p>\n

Battlestar may be the pick of the litter for those of you who missed it the first time around, or look to the Blu-ray (or DVD) format to dig into or play catch-up on TV series that you don\u2019t have time to watch during the week. And it\u2019s been lauded for its social and political commentary as much as the sci-fi angle, which should look mighty fine in high-definition to go with the DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.<\/p>\n

As far as the movies go, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs ought to make for a good family movie night, and will look great if you\u2019re a theater buff with a constant image height setup\u2014viewing in CinemaScope 2.35:1 aspect ratio for all that wonderful animation.<\/p>\n

Another hidden gem you may have missed is the documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys from 2001. The doc takes a look at the skateboarding world of Southern California and how it changed throughout the years.<\/p>\n
